   Even though I live this mundane, prosaic life, inside it feels chaotic, unsafe, unnatural. I look around and see people smiling, laughing. I start to wonder if it is all an act. That they are miserable inside. Their brains clawing at the inside of their skulls, screaming at them to end it all. Or are their smiles genuine? Are they truly happy? I am starting to notice that I can't tell anymore. The world is a speck of dust in the universe, meaningless. In the end we all die. So why does it matter if I have friends? The room is dark. My breath starts to quicken. I hug my legs, pressing my knees up against my chest. It's all my fault. Tears roll down my cheeks. Why can't I be normal?
